A taxi cab was the scene of a special delivery Tuesday after a woman in labor gave birth in the back seat.

Augustina Tapia was in labor and on her way to Saint John?s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers when time ran out around 7:50 a.m. Hospital administrator Jan McCarthy says when she got to the parking lot, the birth was under way.

McCarthy says the baby?s cord was wrapped around her neck, but the delivery couldn?t have gone any better, despite taking place in the back of a cab. It was the first child McCarthy delivered in 10 years.
