An Armonk tax consultant was arrested and charged with two felonies for allegedly forging appraisal applications for clients.
Prosecutors say Allan Offenberg would seek out clients in communities like Ossining, Bedford and Yorktown who were looking to get their properties re-assessed with the hopes of lowering their taxes.
The District Attorney's Office said that instead of getting actual appraisals, Offenberg forged the signature of a Somers appraiser and submitted applications in as many as 26 communities.
Offenberg pleaded not guilty and is now free on bail.
