A suspicious incident at an Orangetown home is under investigation.
A homeowner on Spencer Court called Orangetown police last Friday night after what was seen on home security cameras.
Authorities say two men wearing dark clothes and masks were checking the front and back doors of the Orangeburg home. No one was home, and they did not get inside nor leave any damage. The pair left in a dark-colored, small SUV.
Video of what happened has not been released.
News 12 told you about two other burglaries that also happened in Orangetown earlier this month. One was the home of Assembly Member John McGowan in Pearl River. The other was on Howard Avenue in in Orangeburg.
"It is very scary that individuals are attempting to break into homes when they know the homeowners are there. In this case, I am advised the homeowners were not home," Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny told News 12. "I would remind residents of a few steps they can take to prevent themselves from becoming a victim of a house break-in, such as making sure all doors and windows are securely locked at all times; if they don’t have one already, consider installing a home security system with alarms and cameras; have motion-activated lights around the exterior of the home – especially by all the entry points; keep valuables and key fobs out of sight and, of course, if they see anything suspicious at all - in or around their house or a neighbor’s home - they should call the Orangetown Police Department immediately."
