Authorities have dismantled an alleged international burglary ring operating in Mount Pleasant.
Two men, Johan Matallana-Gomez, 29, and Jhonn Pulido Betancur, 46, were arrested for allegedly participating in a South American burglary ring targeting Indian and Chinese American households in New York and other states.
On Nov. 1, police responded to a resident's call about breaking glass on Swanson Drive. Officers arrived swiftly, discovering a broken rear window. Matallana-Gomez fled, fracturing his ankle, and was apprehended. Pulido Betancur attempted escape by jumping from a second-floor deck but was tackled by officers.
Police are still searching for an accomplice who likely fled the scene in a vehicle.
A Wi-Fi jammer was found which is used to disable security cameras and Wi-Fi connections.
Both men face burglary charges, with Matallana-Gomez in custody at Westchester Medical Center and Betancur at Westchester County Jail.
