Authorities say a person was killed in a police-involved shooting in Newburgh Friday.
City of Newburgh police say officers approached the person near 40 William St. The person was wanted for questioning in a March 26 shooting at Benkard Avenue and William Street, according to police.
The person allegedly displayed a gun, which was discharged during a struggle. Police say multiple officers returned gunfire.
Officers were taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect was also taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead.
State police and the Orange County District Attorney's Office are jointly investigating the police-involved shooting, pending a grand jury.
