Some SUNY Purchase College students say they're using space heaters and hot ovens to keep warm during the deep freeze.
Facilities director Mike Kopas says they've received 30 calls from students across campus dealing with heat issues. Seven of those complaints came from the 76-unit complex called the Commons.
Kopas says the heat is working, adhering to a 68-degree standard and providing space heaters.
While some students at the Commons say they've got no problems, others have been resorting to extreme measures like using an oven to keep warm. Kopas advises against that.
Senior Ethan Weisman says he hopes he gets a refund for housing.
