A New Rochelle college student is lucky to be alive after he was struck by lightning.
Jason Ward, 21, and his co-workers were unloading straw off a truck at a masonry shop where he works on Friday when they saw an approaching storm. Ward?s hand was on the truck when lightning struck and 20,000 volts of electricity hit him. The fact that Ward also had a hand on a metal pole probably saved his life since the electricity passed through him and back into the metal.
The lightning strike didn?t leave Ward with any noticeable scars, just throbbing headaches. He says he now will live each day with family and friends around him.
