Students in Suffern celebrated the International Day Of Peace with a new tribute that's going to be around for years to come.
Members of the Suffern High School's Interact Club and Model United Nations unveiled a peace pole on Wednesday.
Some art students also created a peace pinwheel installation for the event.
Etched on the sides of the peace pole are the words "May Peace Prevail On Earth" in the eight languages most-spoken among the student body here. Those include, English, Urdu and Russian.
The International Day Of Peace was established by the U.N. in 1981.
On this day each year, the U.N. encourages people worldwide to observe 24 hours of nonviolence.
The pole itself was donated to the students' peace campaign by the Suffern Rotary Club.
