Suffern family sues Delta, says ticket agent hit teen son
A Suffern family is suing Delta Airlines over claims a ticket agent hit their 13-year-old son.
While it’s been nearly a year, Matthew Boggan says he has not gotten over a confrontation with a Delta airline ticket agent that turned physical.
The Suffern teen was one of the unlucky passengers on Delta flight 2370 out of LaGuardia Airport last year. The flight to Florida was delayed for 17 hours, and Boggan says he and dozens of other passengers had to spend the night at the airport and sleep on the floor.
Boggan says when a Delta employee tried to calm the rowdy crowd before they boarded, he wanted to get video of it so he pulled out his cellphone and started to record.
“When she looked at me and saw I was filming her, she slapped it out of my hands and she said, ‘You're not allowed to be recording me, it’s illegal,” says Boggan.
The Boggan family has filed suit against Delta and the unnamed ticket taker, claiming she subjected the teen to humiliation, fright and mental anguish.
Matthew Boggan says one of the reasons the incident hurt him so much is because Delta officials are blaming him for what happened. He hopes that by releasing the video now that his lawsuit sends a message to the airlines that a little restraint goes a long way.
News 12 contacted Delta Airlines for their side of the story, but a spokesman declined comment.
