Students in Orangeburg are hoping to help others in need of blood.
They held a drive at Tappan Zee High School Thursday in memory of Jimmy Hauburger, a senior who took his own life in September.
The students run about four of these drives a year.
"It's an amazing thing, what the school's doing, what the kids are doing," says Jimmy's father, Gene Hauburger. "They're taking something negative and turning it into something positive, and they're doing a tremendous job."
Each unit of donated blood helps to save an average of three lives.
