A group of students from School 23 in Yonkers is off to a good start this academic year, after pledging not to miss any classes.
The kids made the promise yesterday in front of Mayor Mike Spano and school officials.
The school superintendent says they are raising awareness about attendance to better prepare them for later in life. "Our attendance right now is 92 percent, which is higher than most districts, but we can always do better," says Yonkers School Superintendent Dr. Michael Yazurlo.
Mayor Spano promises that the students with the best attendance at the end of the school year would get a party.
