People living in Larchmont and New Rochelle are on high alert tonight after a string of break-ins over the past few days, many of them occurring in broad daylight.
The break-ins have been occurring on streets including Birch Road and Forest Avenue.
Thieves have been breaking windows and sliding glass doors to steal high-value items.
Many of these robberies have been occurring during the day at houses near heavily wooded areas where robbers can make a quick getaway. There is a heavily used public trail in the woods.
Police say they have stepped up their presence in the neighborhood.
