Vigils are taking place Friday to remember the life of George Floyd, a black man in Minneapolis who died after a white police officer kneeled on his neck while being recorded on a cellphone.
Four officers were fired due to the incident. Derek Chauvin was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter after several nights of unrest in the city.

One of the vigils took place in White Plains today, where hundreds of demonstrators chanted, carried signs and called for justice.
"We cannot bring his life back today, but at least, we can come together and grieve together and feel our anger and rage together,” said Nada Khader, the executive director of Westchester Peace Action Committee.
Kenneth Chamberlain Jr. also spoke at the rally. In 2011, his father Kenneth Chamberlain Sr., was fatally shot and killed by police in his White Plains apartment. The shooting occurred after his LifeAid medical alert accidentally triggered a police response.

Law enforcement officials in Westchester also condemned the death of George Floyd.
"What we saw was horrific…I don't believe that any of our officers would ever act that way," said David E. Chong, public safety commissioner for the City of White Plains.
