A summit was held in Yonkers to try and solve some of the city's biggest environmental issues.
Among the issues discussed at the Stormwater Summit was flooding problems that have plagued homeowners for years.
Those living near Longvale Road have had to deal with an overflowing Sprain River, and Clunie Avenue flooding from the Saw Mill River happens all too regularly.
Residents know that when it rains heavily, their homes will flood and there will be property damage.
Experts from FEMA, Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Public Works and the EPA who were at the summit say working to improve the quality of life in Yonkers is an ongoing effort.
Other topics discussed at the summit were maintaining Yonkers' water quality and ways to prevent contamination in the future.
