Dress warm. Arctic cold air will continue this week behind windy conditions for the next few days. It will still be gusty overnight with winds around 35 mph. Temperatures overnight will feel like they are in the single digits to below zero.
The morning commute/getting the kids to school will continue to be frigid, be sure you wear layers. Winds will be less intense on Wednesday. Expect them to be from 10-20 mph, with gusts near 30 mph once more. Still strong enough that the afternoon feels like it is in the teens. The day starts out sunny and frigid. By the time we get to the afternoon, highs will be around 30 degrees. Wednesday night, the skies will become cloudy, but it will remain very cold.
The storm system Thursday is expected to continue south due to influences of the cold air and a high pressure system that shifted its trajectory south. As the system moves out to sea, there is a chance for snow showers, especially on the South Shore toward the East End. Those areas could receive less than an inch of snowfall. Otherwise, many of us will remain dry.
Friday into the weekend, our conditions will gradually improve. Sunny, not as cold and less wind with rebounding temperatures by Sunday into the 40s.
