Tuesday Storm Update:
Our forecast is still on track for Tuesday's coastal storm to be mainly rain for Long Island, however there is a brief period mid Tuesday morning where snowflakes could mix in over Nassau and Western Suffolk County along the north shore. Little to no accumulation is expected. The primary impact will be heavy rain with totals over 1 inch expected.
Forecast Summary
We're in an active weather pattern with multiple storms approaching Long Island over the next few days. It will also be much colder than usual which opens the door for snowflakes over the upcoming week or two.
Today is wet and windy with showers likely starting mid-morning and continuing all afternoon. Highs are near 50F with winds from the SW at 15 to 25 mph, gusting up to 30 mph on the south shore.
Monday is cold and sunny with highs in the low 40s, feeling like the mid 30s with winds W 15 mph.
Tuesday is a wet day with wintry mix possible in the morning. Snow accumulations are not expected. Temperatures are in the mid 40s on the island with rain expected most of the day.
Bitter cold weather settles in for the middle of the week. High temperatures will struggle to hit 40 Wednesday through Friday. The coldest air arrives on Thursday. Highs are barely above freezing, and overnight lows will be in the teens and 20s.
Snow late week?
Another storm is approaching our area Friday night into Saturday. Cold air is in place so there's a possibility for accumulating snow Friday night into Saturday, although we do not know how much (if any) of the storm will impact our area, so it's too early for specifics. Currently, we expect a period of wintry mix Friday night and a mix or change over to rain on Saturday. Stay tuned for changes!
