Seasonal temperatures settle in across Long Island through the weekend, with sunny skies dominating the forecast for the two days. Friday will be sunny with highs in the mid-60s, and Saturday will bring partly sunny conditions with highs near 68 degrees. Clouds will increase Saturday night ahead of an approaching nor’easter.
Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a chance of rain. Rain chances are expected to increase into the night. Winds will pick up significantly, especially along the coast. A storm watch is in effect for Sunday morning through late Sunday night.
Northeast winds could reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. The worst conditions are expected overnight Sunday into Monday, making it a hazardous time to be outdoors or on the water. Rainfall amounts right now look to be anywhere from ½ an inch to 2 inches.
The system will gradually pull away Monday night, but not before bringing steady rain and gusty winds throughout the day. By Tuesday, drier weather returns with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s, though another cooldown is expected later in the week.
