The town of Stony Point is demolishing several Sandy-damaged homes this week.
Stony Point Town Supervisor Geoff Finn says the homes are coming down for safety reasons. The homes were all damaged beyond repair during the October 2012 storm, and some have since become infested with rats.
The town has placed a lien on the properties to cover the demolition costs.
Finn says the town will work on strengthening its waterfront once the homes have been demolished.
