Stew Leonard's is limiting sales of some items as the store faces growing demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Yonkers grocery store is trying to keep enough items for everyone by allowing customers to purchase just two packages of ground beef, toilet paper, paper towels and hand sanitizer.

Owner Stew Leonard Jr. says they are trying to keep up with the demand but some items are more difficult to get.

"Things like toilet paper when it comes in, hand sanitizer, the Bounty towel, the big volume items like that--that people are really trying to buy as much as they can of," Leonard says.

The store has plenty of cleaning supplies and hand soap. Leonard says it's impossible to get Purell hand sanitizer now but they found another brand and are receiving 12,000 bottles of it.

Meanwhile Hillside Food Outreach is busy stocking shelves and delivering food to those who can't get to the store.

Founder Kathy Purdy says they are getting calls to deliver food to the elderly or people in quarantine. She says their demand is high as deliveries in local grocery stores are getting backed up.
