Four days after the blizzard, one Westchester County city is getting help from the state to clean up the snow.

Mount Vernon got over a foot of snow Saturday, and while the streets were plowed and passable, the piles of snow were a problem. Residents in some congested areas say they can't open their doors at the curb or reach parking meters to pay.

New York State has stepped in and has lent snow removal equipment and manpower to help clean up. The special equipment is designed to scoop up snow and funnel it directly into a truck so crews can cart it away. It can move up to 200 tons an hour with much of the snow being carted to Brush Park.

Crews tell News 12 they were working since late Tuesday night, and will continue to work until all the piles are gone.

Officials say as the crews and equipment cleans up streets, they will be closed to parking.
