The state and several Hudson Valley counties will take extra precautions Friday in response to Hamas' calls for a worldwide day of protest.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said there is no intelligence right now that shows any threats in the whole state. In such a delicate moment, however, law enforcement will be out in full force out of an abundance of caution.

Westchester County police and the Rockland County Sheriff's Office said residents will see stepped up patrols in their communities.

Westchester County police said it will get intelligence about any potential threats right away through the real time crime center.

Officials urge residents to stay vigilant and aware as they always should.

"We want to reiterate to New Yorkers there's no reason to feel afraid," Hochul said. "No one should feel they have to alter their normal lives or their routines. And indeed, when we change our behavior without a serious, credible threat, then we're letting the terrorists win."

Hochul adds the state will not tolerate any acts of hate whether against Palestinian New Yorkers, Jewish New Yorkers, or anyone else.
