State and federal lawmakers on Friday introduced a bill they say would close a $3.6 billion dollar funding gap in the World Trade Center Health Program.
The new legislation would also update the funding formula to ensure that first responders don't lose access to care.
Lawmakers say without congressional action, the program will have to start making cuts to services for Sept. 11 responders and survivors by 2028.
