Park Ridge mandatory water restrictions in place through Sept. 1
The state's current drought warning and mechanical repairs prompted the restrictions.

Park Ridge residents are being instructed to limit certain types of water usage for the next five months as parts of the state deal with drought conditions.
The water department says the restrictions are also necessary due to the temporary removal of certain wells from service in Park Ridge as they undergo mechanical repairs and upgrades. The restrictions begin today and will be in place until Sept. 1 for residents of Park Ridge as well as Woodcliff Lake, according to the water department.
Under the directive, the use of manual and automatic sprinklers will only be permitted on designated days. In Park Ridge, those days include Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while Woodcliff Lake residents can use sprinklers on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Exceptions will be made if new sod or seed has been planted or if there has been a commercial application of fertilizer or pesticide.
The use of hand-held garden hoses as well as washing surfaces and buildings will also be restricted unless the washing is deemed necessary "to avert a threat to public health."
