"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" officially opened Thursday night at theaters across the Hudson Valley.
The movie is already setting records at the box office.
Because of the crowds, security was a concern for many theater operators. Cinema de Luxe Ridge Hill in Yonkers was among the theaters enforcing a costume policy. Moviegoers were allowed to dress up, but they were not allowed to wear masks, face paint or bring in weapons like lightsabers
Tickets for the first few days of showings have been selling fast, but some remain available.
