Stamford police say they've identified a suspect in the fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a 13-year-old boy Saturday night.

Police say the boy was on a minibike and was accompanied by a family member on a scooter, who had both pulled over when the teen was fatally struck. The driver fled the scene. Police say the boy was thrown from the minibike and into a nearby yard.

Police say they got a search and seizure warrant for the vehicle - a 2004 Honda Accord.

The warrant was signed by a Superior Court judge and the vehicle was removed from the suspect's residence and is now in the custody of the Stamford Police Department.

But the 41-year-old Stamford resident suspected of driving the car will not speak without an attorney. He has not been identified or charged with a crime.

There is a memorial on the side of the road with flowers to remember the boy, who has not yet been identified publicly.

"Any time a young child is killed in something like this, it's extremely tragic," said Sgt. Jeffrey Booth. Police say they hope to make an arrest this week.
