Social media is exploding in reaction to a knife incident at a middle school in Middletown in which two students were injured.

While most posts express sympathy for the victims, there's certainly a mix of reactions. Here are just some of the posts.

MORE: 2 students hospitalized following stabbing at Middletown middle school

"First, I hope the kids and staff are all fine. Secondly, the Middletown School Board needs to reconsider leadership of this district. We have now had two high-profile incidents in about a month under Amy Creeden's 'leadership'. What a disaster." says Greg.

Erin posted "This is middle school !! Children should not be acting like this and bringing weapons to school . I really think schools need to start really hammering down the punishment to these children that can't act right because their parents failed them . They should be kicked out of the district and sent aw."

Hope says "This just proves that students backpacks and persons are NOT fully checked going into the schools. I'd check to see which security line they went through and not only should the student carrying be held to the highest punishment, so should their parents and the security personnel who let them in."
