Spring Valley woman convicted in stabbing of village businesswoman

The Rockland County district attorney says a jury convicted 38-year-old Evelyn Lopez of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

A Spring Valley woman has been convicted in the stabbing of a village businesswoman.
The Rockland County district attorney says a jury convicted 38-year-old Evelyn Lopez of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
The incident happened last March, when the victim was getting into her car moments after closing her restaurant.
Lopez approached her and said she needed medical assistance.
When the victim attempted to assist her, she was stabbed numerous times.
Her injuries required specialized surgery to her hand.
Lopez faces five to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced in May.
