Konbit Neg Lakay, an organization that helps immigrants, tells News 12 that 15 laptops were taken from their office in Spring Valley sometime overnight.
"It hurts because the thing is, I said to myself, 'Is there something that we didn't do right?’” said Renold Julien, the organization's CEO. “' Because after 36 years, you really feel that you are part of the community, and everybody was going to protect you."
Julien walked into the office Monday morning to find the technology missing from his office and glass on the floor from a smashed window that’s on the side of their building on Church Street in the village.
He says the laptops were for a program that started last week that helps new immigrants - specifically women and children.
One mother News 12 spoke with in Spanish who got a laptop last week says her daughter has been using it for school work.
There are security camera’s in the area and Julien believes whoever is responsible will be caught.
As News 12 has shown you over the years - Konbit Neg Lakay supports new arrivals through a number of ways.
After the reported burglary - the organization that helps the community is asking for some help in return.
"If you have any information please call the Spring Valley Police Department,” Julien said. “We are calling on people with great hearts, who are willing to help us replace the laptops."
Spring Valley police were there Monday morning.
News 12 told they are investigating what happened and looking at surveillance video from the area.
The organization says this is the first time they have been the victim of a crime at their current location.
