Neighbors in the Village of Spring Valley believe that a family of foxes was buried alive after someone dumped truckloads of dirt on top of their network of dens.
They shared video with News 12 of some of the dirt being dumped off Route 59.
Neighbors tell News 12 that since the dirt was dumped, the family of eight foxes has been missing – except for one baby kit.
“He's looking for his family, he’s all by himself and that’s what makes me think the rest were buried under this huge pile of dirt," says Mary Hoehmann.
The property owner tells News 12 someone dumped the dirt there without their permission.
They add that they have stopped it, and plan to build a fence so it doesn’t happen again.
