News 12 is getting a first look at a major law enforcement operation that swept across Orange County Thursday morning—part of what prosecutors describe as a wide-ranging narcotics and gun trafficking investigation.
A viewer video captured one of the raids at the Hudson Valley Apartments on Brookfield Lane in Wallkill. Prosecutors say at least a dozen locations were searched as part of the coordinated effort involving local and county law enforcement agencies.
The investigation targets what officials are calling an “Iron Pipeline Conspiracy,” in which handguns and assault weapons were trafficked from Georgia and Pennsylvania into the Hudson Valley for illegal sale—alongside a significant narcotics distribution ring.
Twenty defendants have been charged with crimes related to the possession and sale of guns and drugs.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office says the investigation involved law enforcement from county, federal and multiple local agencies.
Officials are expected to announce the arrests and outline the scope of the case during a press conference Friday at 10 a.m.
