Multiple sources tell News 12 that Spring Valley Mayor Alan Simon fired Village Treasurer Gregg Smith on Wednesday afternoon.

News 12 also learned that two village employees were taken to the hospital for possible panic attacks after an outburst from the mayor.

Mayor Simon was not at Village Hall Wednesday afternoon and the treasurer's office was closed. News 12 reached out to the mayor's assistant for comment but has not heard back yet.

News 12 has previously reported on the mayor's outbursts and other employees being fired during his tenure.
