10h agoA Spring Valley man was honored Sunday for his life saving efforts during a fire.
Jean Donald Mathieu is credited with saving the life of an 8-month-old girl during a fire at an apartment building on West Eckerson Road earlier this month.
Matthieu was awarded the Liberty Medal by Sen. Bill Weber for his bravery.
It was back on Feb. 3 when Matthieu climbed over a metal fence and proceeded up a narrow fire escape ladder to rescue the baby from the fire.
He is also credited in helping two adults descend that ladder to safety from the third floor.
News 12's Carol Wilkinson has more on the event that honored Mathieu.
