The SPCA of Westchester has put out a scam alert saying that thieves are reaching out to people asking for a deposit and personal contact information.
The organization says the scammers are targeting those who show interest in adoptable animals on social media posts.
The SPCA says they don't ask for deposits, and people should only respond to messages sent directly from the non-profit.
