The Putnam County SPCA says a Philipstown teen was arrested for killing a bat while it rested in a cave in April.
The SPCA said it was contacted by officials about a Snapchat video of a man who killed a bat while it was resting on a wall inside the Sunken Mines Caves in Putnam Valley.
It said the suspect took a large rock, with no justifiable reason, and appeared to crush the bat multiple times, causing it extreme pain and ultimately, its death - while yelling expletives about coronavirus and laughing.
SPCA officers charged 19-year-old Caleb Shuk with allegedly committing one count of animal cruelty,
He will be arraigned in Putnam Valley Justice Court on the SPCA charge and additional NYS DEC Police charges on May 13.
