‘Operation Ghost Trap’ puts stop to ‘ghost plates’ in Yonkers
Drivers with ghost plates are experiencing a crackdown in Yonkers.

Twenty vehicles were impounded and nearly 70 left with a summons, following a Yonkers traffic sweep.
“Operation Ghost Trap” targets cars with fake or obscured license plates, unregistered vehicles and reckless drivers.
The operation has led to the arrest of 28-year-old Emil Sanchez Mercado.
Police say Emil Sanchez Mercado fled from detectives with his 11-month-old child in the car.
He is now facing several charges, including reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a child.
