Frank Sparaco's sentencing for election fraud was pushed back in court today.
Sparaco was supposed to find out his fate in Clarkstown Court, but instead his new attorney spent the time explaining why the judge should wait to sentence his client.
Justice Howard Gerber was set to sentence Sparaco on an election fraud guilty plea, but relutantly pushed it back twice.
One of the biggest reasons for the delay in Sparaco's sentencing was whether or not he broke the law by not resigning from the Rockland Legislature. Gerber said he had until Wednesday to resign without exception.
The second reason was a last-minute new attorney, Kevin Conway, who officially came on board Thursday. Conway is on record as being engaged in the case since March.
Sparaco pleaded guilty to filing false information with the County Board of Elections. He had originally been charged with felonies after he admitted to giving false addresses on nominating petitions for GOP offices. Part of his plea included resigning from office by Wednesday.
