Sources close to the Rockland County corrections officer who died yesterday say that he and his wife, who was in the car when he was shot, were having marital problems.
Frank Farina, a longtime Rockland County corrections officer, died from a single gunshot wound to the head. The couple was found inside their crashed car on Route 6 in Woodbury after a fatally injured Farina went off the road with his wife in the passenger seat.
Farina's neighbors say they saw the Farinas as a happy couple with two children and a house in Stony Point.  Behind closed doors, sources close to the pair allege there were issues of financial problems and infidelity and say the two may have been splitting up.
Authorities are not saying if Farina was shot by his wife, Jennifer, or if he turned the gun on himself. They say Jennifer Farina was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center with a broken arm and multiple contusions from the crash.
Police say an autopsy is being performed, but those who knew Farina say they never thought he'd be capable of hurting himself.
Farina's boss, Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco, says the corrections officer was well-liked by his peers and worked at Rockland County Jail for more than a decade.
