Somers garbage truck catches fire, no injuries reported

A garbage truck caught fire early yesterday morning on Route 100, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department says.
The fire, which started inside the body of the truck just before 5 a.m., was confirmed by arriving crews.
The driver safely exited and offloaded most of the truck’s contents before firefighters arrived.
Additional crews extinguished the fire in the truck and the removed materials, with no injuries reported.
Visible black and gray smoke damage marked the truck’s side.
The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
