'Somebody help us.’ Claremont shooting injures teenager and strikes ambulance

Police say a shooting in Claremont at around 12:18 a.m. left an 18-year-old with a gunshot wound in the abdomen and struck an ambulance.

Officers and ambulances blocked off East 169th Street and East 170th Street after bullets rang out early Thursday morning.

Police say they responded to a shooting at 1345 Webster Avenue at around 12:18 a.m.

An 18-year-old man was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the abdomen area.

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

As bullets rang out, a nearby ambulance was caught in the crossfire breaking the front and back windows.

In audio shared by News Pix Daily with News 12, paramedics could be heard calling for help. "We're being shot at... Somebody help us,” said the recording.

No EMS crews were hurt in the shooting.
