Some seniors who were forced out of their homes by a massive mudslide in Yonkers are still waiting to be relocated.

On March 11, the mudslide damaged a retaining wall near a Walsh Road senior complex, forcing dozens of residents out. Many of the affected residents are disabled and elderly.

Some affected residents were relocated to permanent public housing units, according to city officials. However, some remain in a hotel. City housing officials say they hope to relocate those residents in the next two weeks.

Building workers say crews have been surveying the site in recent days, as they prepare to begin work on the collapsed retaining wall. City officials say it will take six to 12 more months before the building can be reoccupied. Construction work on the wall is being handled by the state.
