Four Ossining church women who lost their lives during a violent civil war in El Salvador are still remembered 35 years later.

A special service took place over the weekend as the Maryknoll Sisters of Ossining honored the lives of Ita Ford, Maura Clarke, Dorothy Kazel, and Jean Donovan.

The four were killed by militia fighters during a volunteer mission to El Salvador in 1980.

The pain of the loss is still very fresh for many in Ossining. "Maura was a very special person. When she talked to you, you were the only person in the whole world. What you were saying was the most important thing," says Sister Rose McCormick.

The service is part of a five-week long celebration honoring the lives of the four women.
