A silo collapse has halted the production of concrete at the new Tappan Zee Bridge project.
A spokesman for Tappan Zee Constructors, the builders of the new bridge, says one silo fell, causing two other silos to also fail. The silos were located on one of two floating concrete plants that are helping build the new span.
Carla Julian, Community Outreach/Diversity Manager for Tappan Zee Constructors, says that both plants will be shut down during the accident investigation.
No one was injured in the accident.
The barge holding the concrete plant has been towed away from the site for repairs.
