Storms left nearly 1,200 people in the dark without power and streets across the Hudson Valley flooded Friday night.
Rock Tavern resident Denis Troy says he was trapped in his car Friday evening on Ballard Rd. as the rain rushed in. "The water was up to the top of the seat,? he says.
The road was immersed under waist-deep waters as Troy says he, his son and dog managed to escape their car safely.
In Mount Vernon alone, residents struggled to get by as 750 homes were without power Friday night. Many say they are frustrated with Con Edison, calling it a monopoly that needs competition to increase service and reduce prices.
