Services announced for retired Kingston police Detective Gerald 'Tuffy' Schatzel

Detective Schatzel initiated his career at the Town of Lloyd Police Department and later joined the Kingston Police in 1990 as a patrolman.

The Kingston Police Department has announced services for the late Detective Gerald "Tuffy" Schatzel, who passed away on Monday.

Detective Schatzel initiated his career at the Town of Lloyd Police Department and later joined the Kingston Police in 1990 as a patrolman.

He was promoted to the rank of detective in 1998 and continued in this role until his retirement in 2011.

A wake is scheduled for this Sunday, Jan. 7, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Monday at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church.
