A threat forced the closure of schools in the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District today.
An email from acting Superintendent Michael McElduff says the threat was brought to the district's attention Monday evening.
He says local police departments and state police are looking into the matter. "We will continue to work collaboratively with both the local authorities and the State Police until we can conclude that all three buildings, staff and students are safe."
McElduff adds that an update will be sent out to the entire school community once the investigation is completed.
Authorities have not released any information other than to say what was originally described as a "credible threat" by school officials is now said "not" to be by police.
