Sentencing was delayed today for a Middletown woman who pleaded guilty to beating and blinding her granddaughter.
Sentencing is now scheduled for May 26.
Kimberly Bennett’s sentencing was adjourned at the Orange County Court House this morning. A new sentencing date has not been set yet. No reason for the adjournment has been released.
Authorities say they found Bennett’s 7-month-old grandchild unresponsive and with bruises on her face inside Bennett’s home on Bedford Avenue in 2020.
The baby suffered serious injuries to her brain and eyes and was left blind.
Bennett, 45, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in 2021. She is facing 25 years in state prison.
