Sen. Weber pushes for increased discounts for Rockland commuters on proposed Thruway tolls

Weber says any increases to tolls would disproportionately affect Rockland residents.

Sen. Bill Weber is advocating for increased residency and commuter discounts for Rockland County residents on the proposed state Thruway toll adjustments.
The Thruway toll adjustment proposal includes an increase in the residency discount from 17% to 20% for qualified Rockland and Westchester residents.
However, Weber believes Rockland residents deserve more, because unlike Westchester residents, Rockland lacks a one-seat ride to New York City, so many commuters must drive.
Weber says any increases to tolls would therefore disproportionately affect Rockland residents.
The Thruway Authority's public hearing on the proposed changes is on May 16.
