Lawmakers are pushing for federal funding to turn the famous Sing Sing Prison in Ossining into a museum.
The almost 200-year-old maximum security prison currently sits vacant on the banks of the Hudson River.
Sen. Chuck Schumer says turning the prison into a museum could create hundreds of jobs and increase tourism in Westchester County. Among the exhibits featured would include the prison's electric chair, nicknamed "Old Sparky."
Some residents are concerned a boost in tourism would bring traffic and parking problems. Studies and work designs still need to be done before the proposed project can move further.
