The second annual "Operation Ice Splash" will go down in the record books as another big success.
More than a hundred brave individuals plunged into the waters of Lake Mahopac as part of a fundraiser for VFW Post 5491.
Men, women, and children of all ages stepped up and jumped into the freezing lake, all for a good cause. This year's fundraising goal was set at $20,000.
Robert Kearns, a Carmel Town Councilman, emphasized the importance of the funds, stating, "$20,000 goes to rehabbing our post, making sure we keep the lights on. We're a safe haven for local veterans, not just in the Mahopac and Carmel region, but throughout Putnam County and Westchester County."
In addition to the music and fun, food trucks were on hand offering treats and hot drinks to help those in the crowd stay warm.
