Each year since Sept. 11, 2001, Seaford High School pauses to reflect and remember those who perished at the World Trade Center, including five high school alumni.

A solemn candlelight tribute was held at Seaford High School tonight, with the community and dignitaries pausing to reflect on the lives lost 20 years ago.

Five Seaford High School alumni were killed that day. They were office workers, firefighters and police officers, all of them they say, were proud to be from Seaford. "All these men are proud to be Vikings. All shared the same hopes and aspirations as the students that are here tonight. Each unique and special in their own way, they all made their mark on the world. They all lived virtuous lives. And although their time on this earth was cut short, they had just enough time to inspire us all. And when you think about that, you talk about the goodness of humanity of Sept. 11, 2001. You're talking about these five men," says Kenneth Haskell, Seaford High School Alumnus and retired FDNY member.

Officials estimate this was the largest crowd they've ever had for this candlelight ceremony, which also remembered those who have perished from 9/11-related illnesses.
